A letter from the City of Minneapolis:
Minneapolis landlords and property managers,
The economic challenges of the pandemic are affecting all of us. As COVID-19 cases rise and we head into winter, housing stability for Minneapolis renters is more important than ever. We know that many renter households are struggling to cover basic costs of living, and a recent Family Housing Fund survey showed that a significant numbers of property owners are struggling with operating costs as well.
We want you to know that there is new funding available for owners of affordable rental housing and renters in Hennepin County to help cover costs of unpaid rent due to COVID-19.
Help for rental property owners: If you own affordable rental property in Hennepin County, and there are current renters in your property who have been unable to pay rent due to COVID-19, click here to see if you are eligible and apply for assistance.
Help for renters: If you have renters who have been financially harmed by COVID-19, you can share this link with them and encourage them to apply for emergency assistance: https://www.hennepin.us/rent-help.
You and your renters can both apply for assistance; you do not have to choose one program or the other.
We sincerely appreciate your partnership in providing safe, secure and dignified housing in Minneapolis that in turn, promotes the well-being of our city's residents.
